Asolo's Softrock looks like a running shoe yet the main purpose is far from it. So many fast hikers have adopted running shoes yet complained about lack of support or durability but still use them because they're so light and ventilated. The Asolo Softrock is designed as a fast-hiking shoe with the benefits of a running shoe - light, cushioned, with great breathability - but has stability and traction for rugged trail and off-trail use. Every feature was addressed, from a new footbed designed in conjunction with Ortholite, an outsole that will have traction and stability not found in running shoes, and structural components to create lateral stability. Probably not too bad for trail running either.
