In launching the HMS BULLETPROOF ECO, EDELRID is bringing its first ever non-anodized carabiner to the market. Reduced to the essentials, this provides an ecological alternative to an anodized standard carabiner. The stylish industrial look is a fantastic side effect.

But there's more to these carabiners than the missing anodizing process and chemicals. The tried and trusted steel insert in the apex of our BULLETPROOF carabiners reduce wear on both the biner and the rope. And since nearly every product comes with a packaging, we also tackled this part and made it climate neutral. A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND ABOUT ANODIZING:

♦Anodizing aluminium alloys increases their corrosion resistance, their abrasion resistance and makes them look great. It does not increase their strength.

♦Problem: The wastewater of this process needs to be handled very carefully to not contaminate the environment.

♦To start addressing this issue, we are launching a new eco line. Our eco line is made of carabiners which have not been anodized. They are as strong and long lasting as anodized karabiners.

♦Non-anodized carabiners will be found under the color name „ECO".

With our suppliers we make sure that this gets treated with the necessary cautions. However, as always, not doing it is the best option for the environment. We just would like to give everyone this alternative!
